The South Carolina Government Is Inspired by “Revolutions for Fun and Profit!”

If you’ve read Revolutions for Fun and Profit!, then you will recall that there are a number of instances throughout the book where I mention that becoming a revolutionary requires filling out an application.

Apparently the South Carolina state government liked the idea so much, they’ve adopted it for their own state… and thrown in an application fee.

According to a story I recently came across on The Raw Story,

“Terrorists who want to overthrow the United States government must now register with South Carolina’s Secretary of State and declare their intentions — or face a $25,000 fine and up to 10 years in prison.

The state’s “Subversive Activities Registration Act,” passed last year and now officially on the books, states that “every member of a subversive organization, or an organization subject to foreign control, every foreign agent and every person who advocates, teaches, advises or practices the duty, necessity or propriety of controlling, conducting, seizing or overthrowing the government of the United States … shall register with the Secretary of State.”

AWESOME.

Here’s part of the actual form

“Check the appropriate box.

Do you or your organization directly or indirectly advocate, advise, teach or practice the duty or necessity of controlling or overthrowing the government of the United States, the state of South Carolina, or any political division thereof?

[ ] YES [ ] NO

If yes, please outline the fundamental beliefs. If applicable, attach a copy of the bylaws or minutes of meetings from the last year.”

In summary: if you want to learn how to become a revolutionary and overthrow the government, read Revolutions for Fun and Profit!. If you want to become a revolutionary and overthrow the government in South Carolina, then make sure to register with the government and pay your $5 fee.
